Dan Wesson Revolvers

The Popularity of Dan Wesson Revolvers

Dan Wesson firearms have been produced for over 60 years and remain one of the top gun manufacturers today. He is most noted for the ever popular six gun revolver. Dan Wesson listened to silhouette shooters and came forth with better sights and longer, heavier barrels, the silhouette crowd flocked to Dan Wesson products. The Dan Wesson six shooter became the most popular one out their. Dan Wesson revolvers regularly captured 70 to 80 percent of the top places in the highest categories of competitions year after year. Eventually the market for those revolvers dwindled down and by the mid 90's the Dan Wesson revolver was no more. If you’re looking for an all around astounding revolver, I suggest picking up a Dan Wesson revolver today before it’s too late.

INTERCHANGEABILITY:

Dan Wesson made their mark by being drastically different with the interchangeable barrel system. First produced in .357 Mag. in the 1970s, the original Dan Wesson was the first revolver to offer interchangeable barrels, grips and front sights. This allows the shooter to use different length barrels on the same cylinder and frame, as well as providing incomparable accuracy. The entire barrel change process only takes one to two minutes surprisingly. This is not a problem for competitive shooters who are used to their guns, but it is more maintenance than beginner shoots care to do.

QUALITY:

The quality of Dan Wesson revolvers is unmatched, even in today’s market. Dan Wesson never allowed quality to be sacrificed in the making of his revolvers. He kept improving the revolver design, to provide his customers with there money’s worth. The result was a more secure foundation, less barrel vibration, and less variation in the flexing of the barrel from round to round. To achieve the standards of the Dan Wesson Company these steps had to be taken and personal sacrifices made. Unfortunately between the years 1998 and 200 very little revolvers were produced and are limited today.

ACCURACY AND PERFORMANCE:

Dan Wesson Firearms’ manufacturing methods produce parts to exact specifications, which result in performance and handling qualities without not equal to in the handgun field. This six-gun handles four different cartridges and the chambers will also accept the .45 ACP, the .45 Auto Rim, and the .45 Winchester Magnum. The barrel is tensioned equally by the muzzle and frame which free floats in the shroud. The tension keeps the muzzle rigidly aligned with the frame and cylinder, which is where the accuracy comes in. Dan Wesson revolvers have a smooth action and crisp trigger break, with single and double action.

TODAY:

Unfortunately, instead of continuing to focus on the production of high quality revolvers, Dan Wesson, which is now CZ USA and is focusing on the supermag revolvers and some stainless revolvers? They have chosen to support the older model pistols with a variety of shroud and barrel offerings, replacement parts, repair, and refurbishment services fortunately.
